Senate Might Pass Gun Control Without a Fight\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Tell Them To FIGHT BACK!<\/strong><\/h3>\n

It skipped committee\u2026<\/p>\n

It didn\u2019t receive an amendment vote\u2026<\/p>\n

But Last Wednesday, Senator Chuck Schumer snuck gun control into Section 6075 of the National Defense bill.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been almost a week, and no Senator has opposed it!<\/p>\n

If Senate Republicans let this reauthorization of the Undetectable Firearms Act of 1988 pass as an amendment to the National Defense bill without a fight, they\u2019re essentially carrying out Joe Biden\u2019s Executive Order from March.<\/p>\n

If you don’t like\u00a0the idea of Republicans in the Senate letting President Biden make some old gun control law permanent without a fight,\u00a0pick up the phone & call your senators at (202) 224-3121.<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n

All gun control is unconstitutional, & this \u201cUndetectable Firearms Act\u201d is no different. GOA has been saying that since this was first enacted in 1988. We just REFUSE to compromise.<\/p>\n

In fact, GOA is the ONLY gun lobby to have opposed the Undetectable Firearms Act each time it has received a vote\u2014in 1988, 1998, 2003, and 2013.<\/p>\n

GOA\u2019s legislative counsel Michael Hammond was even on the Senate Floor when the\u00a0Undetectable Firearms Act\u00a0<\/i>was first passed in 1988. The way he tells it:<\/p>\n

I let out an audible yelp because, even in an era of sloppy legislative draftsmanship, the bill took a very sensitive subject and handled it in a constitutionally dubious manner.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

The bill outlawed \u201cundetectable\u201d \u201cmajor components,\u201d without giving an exclusive list of what a \u201cmajor component\u201d is.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

And ultimate discretion was left to the Attorney General\u2014which might have been fine under the Reagan administration, but not-so-fine under gun-hating Merrick Garland.<\/i><\/p>\n

In 2023, this is especially relevant because the Biden Administration tried to change the definition of \u201ca frame or receiver\u201d to include gun parts!<\/p>\n

This was walked back in ATF\u2019s final rule, where the agency still chose a confusing and expanded definition\u2014forcing GOA to file a lawsuit\u00a0Morehouse Enterprises v. ATF (I)<\/i>\u00a0alongside 17 Attorneys General.<\/p>\n

Join us in urging\u00a0Congress to STOP the Undetectable Firearms Act by\u00a0calling your Senator at (202) 224-3121 and telling them to FIGHT BACK.<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n

And besides, reauthorizing the Undetectable Firearms Act won’t keep anyone safe from criminals or terrorists.<\/p>\n

It will only hamper law-abiding citizens.<\/p>\n

In 2023, advancements in firearm technology have brought us homemade plastic guns. Now, old metal detectors and the 1988 Undetectable Firearms Act are useless and ineffective.<\/p>\n

Thanks to 3D printing, hobbyists now create guns with plastic and nylon materials like the Liberator and Songbird\u2014innovative single-shot pistols with minimal metal components.<\/p>\n

Law-abiding gun owners willingly comply with regulations, adding metal to the grip. Unfortunately, criminals and terrorists easily bypass this requirement. It’s high time Congress catches up!<\/p>\n

It’s 2023 and detecting polymers and non-metallic items has been standard practice for scanning machines for years.<\/p>\n

And forcing firearms to meet 1980s metal detection standards is mere security theater.<\/p>\n

Unless a legislator supports a ban on homemade and 3D printed firearms, they must oppose the reauthorization of the\u00a0Undetectable Firearms Act<\/i>.<\/p>\n
