Washington, D.C. \u2014 Late Saturday evening, Gun Owners of America (GOA) and the Gun Owners Foundation (GOF)\u00a0filed a\u00a0federal\u00a0lawsuit\u00a0challenging<\/a>\u00a0New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham\u2019s gross and egregious violation of the U.S. Constitution through her \u201cpublic health order\u201d to\u00a0unlawfully\u00a0ban\u00a0the carrying\u00a0of firearms in\u00a0Albuquerque<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The suit, and an immediate\u00a0request for a temporary restraining order\/preliminary injunction<\/a>, were filed in U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Erich Pratt, GOA\u2019s Senior Vice President, issued the following statement:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThis is the most dangerous type of government wielded tyranny\u2014the claim by politicians that there are supposedly \u2018exceptions to the Second Amendment.\u2019 But, they are quite wrong, and tyrants like Michelle Lujan Grisham can\u2019t trash the Constitution whenever they see fit. Gun Owners of America will stand firm and not rest until all those in New Mexico who played a role in this action are held accountable for this gross assault on our rights and our very system of self-government.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Sam Paredes, on behalf of the board for GOF, added:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThe thought of elected leaders claiming they have the authority to unilaterally suspend rights guaranteed under the Constitution during a designated \u2018emergency\u2019 is truly terrifying, and the very reason we the people are guaranteed the right to bear arms.
