There is good news concerning our lawsuit against Illino\u2019s ban on so-called \u201cassault weapons.\u201d<\/p>\n
We’ve mentioned previously our legal challenge against this tyrannical law, and by the looks of it, we might just get our chance before the U.S. Supreme Court very soon!<\/p>\n
In case you’re unfamiliar, here’s a little info to get you up to speed. This law took effect in January 2023, and GOA quickly filed suit and secured an injunction from Judge Stephen McGlynn.<\/p>\n
As Judge McGlynn put it, the Illinois laws in question \u201cseem to be written in spite of the clear directives in Bruen<\/em> and Heller<\/em>, not in conformity with them.\u201d Frustratingly, the anti-gun 7th Federal Circuit quickly blocked Judge McGlynn\u2019s ruling, leaving Illinois gun owners with no choice but to request relief from the nation\u2019s highest court.<\/p>\n This week, big news in the battle against Illinois assault weapons ban could come when the Supreme Court meets on June 6th to consider hearing our case.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n There are three possibilities that could result:<\/p>\n Regardless, we will keep you update<\/p>\n GOA and our legal team will continue fighting to repeal the assault weapons ban until Illinois stands free from all gun control measures impeding the rights of citizens in this state.<\/p>\n Thank you for your continued support of GOA and your firm resolve in defending the Second Amendment.
