I\u2019ve been to more than a few of these kinds of events and the companies that put them on are always nice enough make eye and ear protection available for everyone in attendance who don\u2019t bring their own.<\/p>\n<p>I <em>always<\/em> bring my own to these things. I have custom-molded silicone passive internal plugs and very good electronic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/gear-review-peltor-sport-tactical-500-electronic-hearing-protector-muffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">over-the-ear muffs<\/a>. I also carry some plain-Jane, cheapie foam plugs.<\/p>\n<p>The APX A1 event was held <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsite.com\/locations\/nashville-tennessee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">indoors<\/a>. As anyone who\u2019s ever shot at an indoor range can tell you, it can be brutal, sometimes even overwhelming good ear pro depending on the number of shooters and what they\u2019re shooting around you. That\u2019s why when I shoot at indoor ranges I almost always double up with my Peltor 500s over standard foam plugs.<\/p>\n<p>Beretta provided their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beretta.com\/it\/collection\/spring-summer\/off-shot-mini-headset\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Off Shot Mini Headset<\/a> passive earplugs, so I decided to give them a try\u2026and was surprised to find that I could comfortably shoot indoors with lots of others around me doing the same. That was another surprise. When I\u2019ve tried other in-the-ear options, I usually have to go with foam plugs to seal out the noise enough for comfort. unobtrusive, wont interfere with a long gun stock, and because they handle indoor noise levels, they now live in my everyday carry bag. I\u2019m pretty sure they won\u2019t stand up to some guy shooting an AK with a comp in the stall next to you, but for most situations \u2014 and virtually all outdoor use \u2014 they\u2019re great.<\/p>\n<p>The Off Shot passive plugs are rated at 32 dB NRR and retail <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3a4lEAN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at about $50<\/a>.
