I need you to contact Virginia\u2019s Attorney General Jason Miyares right away, because he is the key to repealing gun control in Virginia.<\/span><\/p>\n Please add your name to our pre-written letter to let AG Miyares know that we expect him to do everything in his power to defeat the Universal Background Check law that is registering virtually every gun buyer in the state.<\/span><\/b><\/a><\/p>\n Then follow up your email with a call to him at: 804-786-2071.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n But first, let me explain to you the situation.<\/span><\/p>\n When the anti-gun Democrats took over all the levers of power in Richmond under Governor Northam, they quickly passed several gun control restrictions.<\/span><\/p>\n One of those anti-gun laws imposed Universal Background Checks, which requires practically every transfer of a firearm to require a background check and paperwork at a licensed gun dealer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n As you know, this law is clearly backdoor gun registration!<\/span><\/b>\u202f<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n GOA and the Virginia Citizens Defense League challenged the law, and achieved a historic victory, exempting young adults from the law.<\/span><\/p>\n But we are not content to just settle for a partial victory\u2014we want to strike down this law so that NO ONE\u2019S gun purchases are registered. This is why GOA and VCDL have informed Attorney General Miyares that we plan to continue our lawsuit to bring down the entire law.<\/span><\/p>\n Unfortunately, Attorney General Miyares is NOT WILLING to support our efforts and still insists on enforcing\u2014<\/span>and defending<\/span><\/i>\u2014the unconstitutional law passed by anti-gun zealots.<\/span><\/p>\n I guess we should have seen this coming when Miyares refused to answer questions about his position on gun control during his campaign. According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch<\/em>:<\/p>\n Miyares dodged a question asking for his position on universal background checks<\/u>, limits on magazine capacity, and a ban on assault weapons.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Even though Miyares was A-rated by some gun groups, he still tried to conceal his position on gun control during the general election.<\/p>\n But now there\u2019s no longer any room to hide.
