Sheriff Aaron \u201cHypocrite\u201d Hanson Betrays Gun Owners\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Douglas County\u2019s new chief law enforcement officer, Sheriff Aaron Hanson, is opposing Permitless Carry in Nebraska.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While Republican Sheriff Hanson campaigned on protecting the Second Amendment, he\u2019s wasted no time betraying that<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Omaha Sheriff Hanson is opposing Constitutional Carry in Nebraska<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

promise to gun owners when it comes to permitless carry. Here are the details.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Silence on Omaha\u2019s Unconstitutional Gun Registration<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In a letter<\/a> to Senator Brewer opposing pro-gun LB 77, Sheriff Hanson refused to take a position on Omaha\u2019s unconstitutional \u201cgun registration\u201d ordinance. LB 77 would strengthen firearms preemption in Nebraska, eliminating this egregious infringement on your God-given rights.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m not surprised that Sheriff Hanson would remain conveniently silent on Omaha gun registration. You see, he\u2019s a former Omaha police officer and the police department is the agency that registers handguns in Omaha.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But there are even worse things in Sheriff Hanson\u2019s letter.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Opposes Open Carry<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On page 2 of the letter to Senator Brewer, Hanson opposes \u201copen carry\u201d of firearms, stating, \u201c\u2019Open Carry\u2019 of weapons in densely populated communities like the Omaha Metro areas has the potential to create public safety implications and challenges. As I read it, LB 77 would remove the local government\u2019s ability to limit \u2018open carry\u2019 of weapons.\u201d<\/em><\/span>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Instead of restoring your constitutional rights, Sheriff Hanson believes that you cannot be trusted to carry your firearms openly <\/span>in Omaha.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mandatory Training\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sheriff Hanson also believes that Nebraska should have a mandatory training requirement for permitless carry. On page 4 of his letter to Senator Brewer, Hanson asks to \u201cPlease consider adding training in your final draft.\u201d<\/em><\/span>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Background Checks<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If that weren\u2019t enough, Sheriff Hanson thinks you should pass a government background check for permitless carry. On page 4, Hanson states that \u201cSimply keeping one\u2019s valid Nebraska handgun purchase permit readily available in a wallet is proof of passage of an ongoing 3-year background check.\u201d<\/em><\/span>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Wow! So much for Hanson being a pro-Second Amendment Sheriff!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In less than a month after taking office, Douglas County\u2019s new sheriff goes on record as silent on gun registration, opposes open carry, endorses mandatory training, and wants Cornhuskers to undergo background checks before exercising the constitutionally-protected right to carry a firearm.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s why I need you to send a message to Sheriff Aaron \u201cHypocrite\u201d Hanson right away by filling out the form above. Let him know that you consider his opposition to LB 77 to be a betrayal of his campaign promise to protect the Second Amendment and demand that he retract his opposition to the bill.<\/span><\/p>\n
